The city participated in the Taiwan Expo in Vietnam, promoting the health care cooperation and industrial chain development plan, in addition to Taipei Veterans General Hospital’s medical research and abundant experience, representing Taiwan’s outward promotion, and targeting Taipei Veterans General Hospital’s professional research technology and results- catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmia, functional reconstruction of bone tumors in extremities, medical research and innovation in the cross-field of oral head and neck cancer, as the largest main content of this exhibition, and the promotion of this technology from Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

For the first time, the Taiwan Expo in Vietnam will take the overall image of Taiwan and match the advantageous industries to the flagship exhibition of new south-bound policy to the country. In 2017, it was held in Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia, which contributed to nearly 200 million US dollars of business opportunities and successfully shaped the image of Taiwan's high-quality industry. The exhibition will be marketed in Taiwan through strategic planning of the industry image area, seminar entity display and communication. This time, Superintendent Professor Chang, Deh-Ming of Taipei Veterans General Hospital will go to the hospital to promote follow-up business opportunities through the exhibition.

In this exhibition, the major achievements of Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital have been presented, including the following excellent medical researches that received the SNQ (Symbol of National Quality) Awards.

First, under the leading of Professor Chen, Shih-Ann the Cardiac Arrhythmia Team of Taipei VGH has made an outstanding academic achievement and has been recognized as an international pioneer and leader in the field of catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). Up-to-date, the team members have performed over 3,000 cases of AF ablation and have discovered numerous novel electrophysiological mechanisms and ablation techniques for atrial fibrillation (AF) treatment. To promote the training of this technology continually, Taipei Veterans General Hospital strives hard to create a new horizon in the field of atrial fibrillation ablation and shall continue to lead the world to higher accomplishments.

Second, under the guiding of the Professor Chen, Wei-Ming more than 60% of musculoskeletal tumor patients in Taiwan were treated in the “Therapeutically and Research Center of Musculoskeletal Tumor” of Taipei VGH in recent 10 years. Currently, we treated more than 500 cases of high-grade osteosarcoma, thousands of malignant bone tumors and soft tissue sarcoma. In the surgical respect, we develop numerous innovating surgical techniques such as hemicortical resection, hemicondylar resection, trident knee fusion and bone-prosthetic composite.

Third, oral/Head & Neck Cancer Team- The oral/head & neck cancer team in Taipei-Veterans General Hospital aims to create didactic tracks of the solution in the clinical innovation of cancer detecting, treatment, rehabilitation and auxiliary support. The ongoing clinical trial of BNCT-particle therapy, IMRT radiotherapy, fine-tuned chemotherapy, the use of computer-assisted navigating/reconstructing surgery, and microscopic assisted laser surgery contributed to an outstanding survival rate and outcome. The delicate oral rehabilitation by tissue engineering and dental implants has made a quality of life possible for early stage oral cancer cases.

Through the Taiwan Expo in Vietnam, on the one hand, Taiwan can be added through activities and the image of Taiwan in the local area can be showed up. This activity can help the Taiwanese people to better understand the current situation of the new south-bound country partners. According to the new south-bound Health Medical Cooperation and Industrial Chain Development Plan implemented by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taipei Veterans General Hospital will work hard to enhance Taiwan's quality of medical care to the whole world through the long-term chain relationship of cooperation and exchanges.

Last but not least, Taipei Veterans General Hospital will sign the Memorandum of Understanding among five local medical institutions, sign an academic MOU with University Medical Center at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Cho Ray Hospital, the third branch of Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, Vietnam, and the first branch of Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, Vietnam.
