New Southbound Policy: International Medical Industry Symposium - Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam

Under the New Southbound Policy, the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) launched One Country, One Center program in June 2018, to promote medical cooperation and industrial chain development with Southeast Asian countries.

In a bid to form stronger ties with primary countries, Taiwanese hospitals are tasked with assigned partners to offer medical training, hold medical conferences and help health-related industries expand into those countries. So far, there are already 7 countries, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam, have teamed up with Taiwanese hospitals: Cheng Kung University Hospital, National Taiwan University Hospital, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, Changhua Christian Hospital, Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital, Veterans General Hospitals and National Yang-Ming University.

On September 30th, the New Southbound Policy Project Office of MOHW, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital and Taipei Veteran General Hospital, held a medical industry symposium. In order to help health-related companies understand the investment environment while expanding into Southeast Asian countries, three hospitals shared their medical cooperation projects in their assigned countries for the past three years.
