The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Hanoi Medical University (HMU) and Hanoi University of Pharmacy (HUP) and Taipei Veterans General Hospital (VGH) were signed on July 16, 2018. Superintendent Prof. Deh-Ming Chang, on behalf of Taipei VGH, welcomed Prof. Nguyen Huu Tu, vice rector of HMU, and Nguyen Thanh Binh, rector of HUP. In addition to the signing of the MOU, they also visited the hospital’s pharmacy & oncology departments, as well as the medical technology building. It is hoped that through successful collaboration with two of Vietnam’s premier institutions on medical education, research, and clinical techniques will further develop knowledge exchange on both sides.
HMU was founded in 1902 and is one of the oldest universities in Vietnam. It is considered to be the top medical school in Vietnam and currently has around 9000 students. They strive to improve patient care through training excellent healthcare professionals and developing treatment techniques.
In 2008, HMU established their first affiliated hospital with 500 beds and 20 specialists. The university is dedicated to integrate medical education with clinical practice and spares no efforts to develop itself into a comprehensive university-affiliated hospital system.
HUP was founded in 1902 as a school of pharmacy and has since expanded into a university. Since 1926, the university has produced pharmacists with bachelor degrees. Its pharmaceutical training is well-established for students with bachelor degrees and post-graduate degrees. HUP is also the only school that provides multidisciplinary medical science degree in Northern and Central Vietnam.
