Chronic kidney disease
Overview
The Division of Nephrology in the Taipei Veterans General Hospital (VGHTPE), initiated since 1959, is committed to delivering cutting-edge medical care for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The doctors and nurses in the Division of Nephrology of VGHTPE are actively engaged in many national and international medical researches and clinical trials. All of our attending physicians are board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and they are highly skilled in the diagnosis and management of various kidney diseases. Many physicians have also been elected as the “Taiwan's Top 100 Physicians”. We have helped set up the guideline for the treatment of CKD in Taiwan, and also participated in the amendment of the KDIGO Clinical Practice Guideline for Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease.
Since 2003, to deal with the increasing burden of the CKD, the Division of Nephrology of the VGHTPE has implemented the CKD prevention program and served as the one of the first five “Kidney Health Promotion Institutions” in Taiwan. Over the past decade, the “CKD Coordinated Care Center” of the Division of Nephrology has cared about more than 6000 patients with advanced CKD. Our distinguished achievement has also been recognized and has won the golden awards for the quality competition of the Kidney Health Promotion Institutions in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Taken together, the CKD Coordinated Care Center of VGHTPE provides holistic, comprehensive and coordinated care for CKD. We offer professional medical service and education to the patients. With the development of network generation, along with the use of informative media tools, we also administer standardized and accessible education for kidney diseases and selection of dialysis modality to improve the longevity and quality of life for patients with different kidney illnesses.
