Overview
An autoimmune liver disease panel is a group of tests that is done to detect the presence of autoimmune liver disease related autoantibodies. An autoimmune liver disease means that the body's immune system attacks the liver.
Features
Evaluation of patients with(1)suspected autoimmune liver disease, specifically autoimmune hepatitis or primary biliary cirrhosis patients. (2)liver disease of unknown etiology.
Procedure
A blood sample is taken from a vein.The blood sample is sent to the lab for testing.
Notification
Diagnosis of an autoimmune liver disease first requires that other etiologies of liver injury, including viral, drug, and metabolic causes, be excluded.
